How Heronfield Academy Secondary School Advising (HASSA) Works

Our HASSA Office works closely with families and eighth grade students to identify a list of target schools and coach them through the application process. Our secondary school advisor works closely with the HASSA committee (the Head of School and several key teachers) to build relationships with our students over several years, helping them appreciate each student’s strengths, interests, goals, and achievements and helping to gain an appreciation for them and hone in on the best secondary school fit.

We help all of our eighth grade students find secondary schools that closely align with their personal strengths, interests, and goals—whether that means an emphasis on academics, athletics, or unique specializations in the arts and sciences. We also help our students search for financial aid if they and their families might need it.

We guide our students through each stage of the secondary school admissions process, including writing essays, completing applications, and applying for financial aid. Students can easily find teachers, coaches, and advisors who will speak to their talents and traits in recommendation letters.
