Full-Time Spanish Teacher

Heronfield Academy seeks an engaging and innovative teacher, passionate about their subject area and about teaching middle school students for the 2025-2026 school year. This full-time position includes teaching four sections of Spanish – two sections for each of two grades. For most students, Spanish classes at Heronfield are their first experience in formal language learning, and the Spanish program seeks to build a foundational knowledge and skills and an appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures. Heronfield offers a challenging middle school curriculum comparable to Level 1 and 2 courses of a traditional high school Spanish program. Comprehensive language skills of reading, writing, listening, speaking, and cultural competency are equally valued. Opportunities for creative and interdisciplinary teaching abound, and student growth at Heronfield is measured in many ways, ranging from conventional assessments to innovative projects and collaborative work.

The teacher in this full-time role will also serve as a grade advisor, part of a three-person team, and will find additional opportunities to build professional and personal connections to the school community through coaching and co-curricular activities, according to one’s interest and experience.

  • 3-5 years classroom teaching experience in Spanish language instruction,
  • A bachelor’s degree in Spanish or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred,
  • Experience working with middle school students and guiding their personal and academic growth,
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English and Spanish), and demonstrated experience in using technology to enhance student learning, and
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach to bringing all measures of success to the school.

Part-Time Development Coordinator

Terms: 20 hours / week, flexible schedule, hybrid

The Development Coordinator supports and, in many ways, is the point person, reporting directly to the Head of School (HoS), in Heronfield’s fundraising and donor relations efforts, managing administrative processes, coordinating events, and assisting with donor communication and database management. This role is key in ensuring that fundraising activities are well-organized, efficient, and aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and lead all events and appeals including all preparation, publications, and execution,
  • Process all gifts including entry into LGL (Little Green Light, software package) and produce timely acknowledgements,
  • Comb and clean the database regularly to improve accuracy,
  • Design and produce Mailchimp mailings and update database for accuracy,
  • Initiate donor relations with Head of School, including fielding calls, emails, messages,
  • Coordinate and lead Development Committee volunteerism to help with events,
  • Lead and  coordinate parent volunteerism to help with events,
  • Assist with Head of School and Chair of Development Committee in all aspects of advancement and marketing,
  • Plan strategies for successful goal completion by year’s-end,
  • Prepare agenda for and run monthly Development Committee Meetings of the Board,
  • Produce periodic data-based reports for the Committee and Board, 
  • Increase the profile of the development role in all quarters of the school community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, business, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in fundraising, development, event planning, or administrative support.
