Heronfield has just closed out another terrific basketball season! This year we had a record-breaking 49 students participating in the program. Coaches Jordan, Clark, Murray, Maloney, Young and Gray all helped to make the season a big success.
Boy’s Blue team met with some challenging competition this year. It was difficult to rack up points against the fast-paced offense and quick-handed defense of teams like Hampton Falls and Seabrook. Over the course of the season the Heronfield boys fine-tuned their offensive plays, leading to a few high-scoring wins. With a winning record of 5-4 the boys have much to be proud of this season!
Girl’s Blue had a highly successful season! The girls worked hard to improve and become a more cohesive team over the course of three months. Their fundamental skills of ball-handling and shooting steadily improved, while they also worked to learn multiple defenses and inbounding plays. A highlight of the season was the January 18th matchup against Ellis School. Heronfield maintained the lead through the second and third quarters, only to have Ellis School bring the point spread to three points in the final minutes. Focused defense and teamwork helped the girls clinch a first-time win against their opponents! They finished the season with an impressive 5-3 winning record. The team is graduating eight eighth graders this year who demonstrated great leadership and work ethic for the younger players.
Gray teams had fewer games, but equally exciting seasons. Players focused on the fundamentals of the game, and enjoyed the camaraderie of being part of a team. We are proud of all of our student athletes for their hard work and commitment this season!
