The spirit of giving is present yearlong at Heronfield Academy, as our students take great pride and joy in giving back to the communities that have given so much to them. While the sixth grade focuses on giving back to Heronfield’s immediate community, and the eighth grade performs community service at a national (and occasionally global!) level, the seventh grade strives to thank and support the surrounding Seacoast communities.
This past month, the seventh grade advisories worked in conjunction with Reverend Knowlton–Heronfield Academy Board Member and former resident of our Farmhouse–and the First Congregational Church of Hampton to provide Thanksgiving Baskets to families in need. The students collected several pounds of fresh carrots, green beans, and potatoes, as well as ready-to-bake rolls and pies to be donated to the Church. These fresh ingredients were combined with 40 boxes of canned goods from Hampton Academy Junior High to provide full, wholesome Thanksgiving meals to families in the surrounding communities. Thanksgiving Baskets have become an annual tradition that the seventh graders look forward to every year, and we hope to continue this tradition for many more years to come!
